(Estherville)-The Iowa Lakes Community College Jazz Band Contest has been postponed to early February, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Originally scheduled for this coming weekend, The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department will now host their Jazz Band Contest on February 3rd and 4th.
Instrumental Music Professor Carol Ayres says the move was made to ensure that safety protocols are in place. “We were originally scheduled for this coming weekend, but no one could quite get that organized with all the protocols and getting busses and everything because it just couldn’t get organized that fast. So, we moved it back two weeks to February 3rd and 4th. The sad thing is, we still can’t have audience members, so we plan to webcast the students’ performances.”
She adds that it will be one of the first events in the new Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center on the Estherville Campus. “We will be hosting the Iowa Lakes Vocal Jazz Festival, non-competitive, the last week of January, and then this will be the first week of February, so it will be the second High School thing we will have had in our facility.”
